What to expect

We understand that finding a local church home is an unnerving task. The difficulty is magnified when you are unsure about the details that matter to you: where do we go, how do we dress, what do we do, do we have to pray out loud…among others! Below you will find answers commonly asked questions about Commission, as well as a simple picture of what to expect when you arrive.

Who goes to Commission Church?

You will encounter a diverse community of people seeking to love Jesus and serve their city as we think Jesus would. We are a very diverse non-denominational church. On a practical level, some who are attending Commission are simply asking questions about Jesus and Christianity for the first time, while others have been a part of a church community for a while. Commission members stretch across the spectrum of ages and backgrounds. In short, everyone will feel welcome and at home.

What if I’m not used to going to church?

You are the reason we started Commission. We strive to create a safe place to ask questions and a comfortable place for those curious about Jesus. It is ok if you are wrestling with questions. This is a place for you to learn and apply what the Bible teaches to everyday living. The Bible is taught in a simple and practical way through expository teaching.

What does a typical Sunday Worship Experience look like?

We design our worship services to be a place for people to meet with God. It’s relaxed but focused, simple and authentic. Each service begins with a live band leading the audience in worship. The setting will be contemporary with creative multi-media elements designed to make it easy to follow along and conducive for you to participate during each song. Every Sunday a Pastor will teach straight from the Bible in a challenging and practical way. The heart of our church is to help people grow. It is our hope and goal that the message will encourage and challenge you. Our services are typically 90 minutes long.

What should I wear?

We want you to feel comfortable. There is no set dress code, although the attire is more on the casual side. Whether that means jeans and a t-shirt, business casual or suit and tie, as long as you are actually wearing clothes, you will fit right in.

What about my kids?

Our children’s ministry – CKids – is fantastic! Commission Church is a family-friendly environment. We believe that children are a blessing from God and are a vital part of every local church. Children from birth to 6th grade go to our CKids area where they receive age-appropriate teaching from an amazing team of adults. The environment is clean and safe. Each adult worker has completed a background check and is qualified to engage your child. When you walk in, just follow the signs to the CKids area. Upon arrival, children will be checked in and receive a name tag with a unique number. In case your child needs your immediate attention, the teacher will contact you through text messaging.

I have older kids. Where will they go?

Students 6th through 12th grade are a part of our regular worship services on Sunday morning. Commission Students meet during the week on Wednesdays to hang out and study the Bible with other students their age.

Can I invite my friends?

Please do. We seek to be a welcoming environment for people who are curious about Christianity or who are seeking to belong to a community of believers.

Aside from Sunday services, what else do you have?

We want your spiritual growth to happen all week long, so in the pipeline, we have mid-week opportunities for you and your family. Adults can connect with other believers by joining one of the many life groups or attending one of our classes to help you in specific areas of your life like marriage, discipleship, finances, etc.
